Part 2: Installation Steps

Here's how it actually goes down — no filler, no unboxing montage, just the real steps from the moment you pick up a screwdriver.

Step 1 — Remove the Cup Holder Screws

Grab a screwdriver and pull out the rubber mat inside the cup holders. Underneath you'll find three Phillips screws. Take them all out. These hold the bottom of the center console trim in place.

Step 2 — Remove the Top Cubby Screws

Look up above the radio — there's a small storage cubby. Inside it are two screws that secure the top of the dash bezel. Remove them both.

Step 3 — Detach the Center Console Bezel

With all screws out, the entire center trim piece comes off. Start from the bottom and work your way up. It's held by clips, so a firm but careful pull is all it takes. Don't yank — work it loose gently and watch for any remaining wire connections behind it.

Step 4 — Unplug the Wiring Behind the Dash

Once the bezel is free, you'll see a handful of connectors — climate control harnesses , radio antenna, and main wiring. 

Step 5 — Pull Out the Factory Radio

With the bezel off and connectors unplugged, the old radio slides right out. It's held by a few bolts on the sides — remove those and the whole unit comes forward.

Step 6 — Transfer the Factory Trim Frame

Here's a step people miss: you need to take the original plastic trim frame off the factory dash panel and attach it to the new Topdisplay frame. The video shows prying the old frame free, then snapping it onto the new assembly. This ensures the new screen sits flush with the dashboard like it belongs there.

Step 7 — Prep the New Wiring Harness

The Topdisplay kit comes with a full plug-and-play harness. No cutting, no splicing. Match the connectors from the new harness to the factory plugs you disconnected earlier. Everything is color-coded and keyed so it only goes in one way.

Step 8 — Reconnect Climate Controls and Factory Buttons

Step 9 — Power-On Test BEFORE Final Assembly

This is the most important step and the one you absolutely should not skip. Before screwing everything back together, turn on the ignition and test the screen. Make sure it powers up, the touchscreen responds, CarPlay connects, climate controls work, and there's no weirdness. It's 10 minutes of testing that can save you an hour of re-disassembly.

Step 10 — Reassemble the Center Console

Everything tested and working? Great. Now put the center console back together in reverse order: snap the trim pieces back in, reinstall the cup holder assembly, and tighten all screws. Double-check that all panels sit flush and nothing is loose.
