Installation Guide

This guide walks through the installation using a Ford Mustang as an example. The same approach applies to other supported vehicles — trim removal details may vary slightly by model.

Installation Steps

 

Step 1: Remove the Dashboard Trim

Use a plastic pry tool to carefully pop off the trim pieces around the radio and climate controls. Start from the top panel by the air vents and work your way down. The panels are held in place by clips — a gentle, steady pull is all it takes. Set each piece aside and keep track of any metal clips that may come loose.

Step 2: Take Out the Factory Radio

With the trim out of the way, you'll see the screws holding the factory radio. Remove them and gently pull the radio forward. Reach behind and unplug each connector — they have tabs you press to release. Once all plugs are disconnected, set the old radio aside.

Step 3: Connect the New Topdisplay Stereo

Take the wiring adapter from the box and plug it into the car's factory connectors — each plug only fits one way, so you can't get it wrong. Then connect the other end to the back of the Topdisplay screen. The included adapter handles everything: power, audio, steering wheel controls, and climate integration all go through this single connection. No cutting, no splicing — just plug and go.

Step 4: Test Everything BEFORE Final Assembly

THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP — DO NOT SKIP. Before you screw anything in or put any trim back, reconnect the battery and turn on the new stereo while it's still loose. Check everything now, while you can still easily reach the wiring:

•       Screen turns on and touch works properly

•       Wireless CarPlay / Android Auto connects to your phone

•       Sound comes from all speakers (fade left/right, front/rear)

•       Steering wheel buttons work (volume, skip track, voice)

•       Climate controls and temperature display correctly

•       Reverse camera shows up when you shift to reverse (if you have one)

Only move on to Step 5 after everything checks out. If something isn't working, now is the time to double-check your connections — don't wait until everything is buttoned up.

Step 5: Mount the Stereo and Reassemble

Push the Topdisplay stereo into the dashboard, making sure no wires are pinched behind it. Secure it with the original screws — snug is enough, don't overtighten. Then put all the trim panels back in the reverse order you took them off. Press each piece until the clips click into place. The final result should look clean, with even gaps just like the factory finish.

Step 6: Final Setup and Enjoy

Power up one last time. Go into the settings to dial things in: adjust screen brightness, tune the sound to your liking, and pair your phone for Wireless CarPlay or Android Auto. Browse the Google Play Store to install any apps you want — navigation, music, whatever fits your needs. That's it — your Topdisplay 9.7-inch QLED Stereo is ready for the road.
