Here is how I swapped the factory radio in my C6 Corvette for the Topdisplay unit. The whole job is mostly unclipping trim and matching plugs — no cutting, no splicing, and the car stays fully reversible. If you can turn a screwdriver, you can do this.

Step 1 — Remove the Lower Trim and Screws

I started by taking out the screws around the glove box and lower dash area, then gently pried the lower trim panel free with a trim tool.

Step 2 — Remove the Shifter Boot

I carefully cut the stitching around the shifter boot, peeled it away from its slot, and popped out the small plastic pin on the side.

Step 3 — Remove the Center Console Trim

I pressed around the center console to release the clips and lifted the whole trim panel off, exposing the factory radio underneath.

Step 4 — Disconnect and Remove the Factory Radio

I unplugged the factory connectors, including the blue locking tab and the white harness, then removed the mounting screws and pulled the old radio out.

Step 5 — Connect the New Wiring Harness

I plugged the included harness into the back of the new Topdisplay unit — the grey connector clicked straight into place.

Step 6 — Connect USB, Antenna, GPS and Power

I hooked up the factory USB adapter, the radio antenna adapter, the GPS module, and the power harness, then tucked the wires neatly behind the unit.

Step 7 — Mount the New Topdisplay Radio

I slid the new radio into the dash and powered it on — the 7-inch QLED screen lit up and booted straight into the Topdisplay interface.

Put the trim, shifter boot, and lower panels back in reverse order, making sure every clip snapped tight and nothing rattles.

Will it damage the car?

No. The Topdisplay kit plugs into the factory connectors with no cutting or splicing, so the car stays original and you can put the stock radio back any time.

Do I need special tools?

Not really. A screwdriver and a plastic trim tool are all I used — no special specs, and no dealer-only tools.

Is it hard to install?

Moderate. It is mostly unclipping trim and matching plugs. If you are patient and comfortable with basic DIY, it is very doable in a weekend.

Yes. The factory USB port stays functional through the included adapter, and because nothing is cut, the install remains fully reversible.
