I picked up this Topdisplay 12.1-inch radio upgrade for my 2015 F150 and installed it over a weekend afternoon. If you own a 2015-2018 Ford F150 and want a massive modern touchscreen without losing any factory features, this guide walks you through exactly what I did — straight from the install video.

Step 1: Remove the Top Dash Panel

Pop off the top dashboard trim panel above the radio using a plastic pry tool. It's held by clips and comes off easily.

Step 2: Remove the Vent Bezels and Lower Trim

Unscrew the side air vent bezels with a socket, then pry off the lower dash trim piece below the radio.

Step 3: Pull Out the Factory Radio

Remove the bolts securing the factory head unit, slide it out, and disconnect all the plugs from the back.

Step 4: Transfer the Circuit Board

Open up the old factory radio and carefully remove the main circuit board. Transfer it into the new Topdisplay unit's housing. This preserves your truck's original system compatibility.

Step 5: Connect the Wiring Harness

Plug the included Topdisplay wiring harness into the truck's connectors. It's all plug-and-play — match the shapes and click them in.

Step 6: Mount the New 12.1-inch Screen

Connect all adapter cables (GPS antenna, USB, AUX), then slide the Topdisplay unit into the dash opening. Secure it with the original mounting brackets.

Step 7: CRITICAL — Power-On Test

Before putting any trim back, turn on the ignition and test everything: screen, touch response, sound, CarPlay, steering wheel controls, and backup camera. If anything doesn't work, now is the time to fix it.

Step 8: Reinstall the Trim Panels

Route the microphone cable cleanly along the A-pillar, clip the mic near the visor, then snap all trim pieces back in reverse order. Everything fits like stock.

Step 9: Final Setup and Enjoy

Boot up the system, pair your phone via Wireless CarPlay or Android Auto, tweak the EQ settings, and you're done. The giant 12.1-inch screen completely transforms the cabin.

What You Should Know

  • All factory features are retained. Steering wheel controls, backup camera, climate settings — everything works exactly as before.
  • No permanent modifications. The entire install is bolt-on. You can return to stock anytime.
  • Basic tools only. A socket, plastic pry tool, and Phillips screwdriver are all you need.
  • Step 4 is the trickiest part. The circuit board transfer takes the most care. Go slow and you'll be fine.
