Installation Steps

Step 1: Disconnect the Battery — Safety First

Pop the hood and disconnect the negative battery terminal. This takes 30 seconds and prevents any electrical mishaps while you're working on the dash. No fancy tools needed — just a 10mm wrench. Leave it disconnected until the very end.

Step 2: Remove the Gear Selector Trim

Grab a plastic trim pry tool and gently work your way around the red trim piece surrounding the gear shifter. It's held in by clips — no screws. Start from the edge and lift slowly. You'll hear satisfying pops as each clip releases. Set the trim piece aside somewhere safe.

Step 3: Take Off the Climate Control Panel

With the gear trim out of the way, the climate control panel is next. Pull firmly but carefully — it's also clip-based. Disconnect the wiring harnesses from the back once it's loose. Now you have clear access to the factory radio.

Step 4: Pull Out the Factory Radio

Two screws hold the original head unit in place. Remove them, then slide the factory radio straight out. Unplug all connectors from the back — there are several, but each one is uniquely shaped so you can't mix them up later. The dash will look alarmingly empty at this point. That's normal.

Step 5: Prep Your New Topdisplay Unit

Unbox the Topdisplay kit and lay everything out. The included plug-and-play harness is the star of the show — it matches every factory connector perfectly. Transfer any bracket clips from the old radio to the new one, then attach the wiring harness to the back of the Topdisplay unit. All connectors are color-coded and keyed.

Step 6: Connect & Route the Wiring

Connect the Topdisplay harness to your Civic's factory plugs. There's a generous amount of cable, so take your time tucking everything neatly into the cavity behind the dash. Avoid pinching any wires. The GPS antenna and 4G antennas can be routed toward the glove box area.

Step 7: Mount the New Head Unit

Slide the Topdisplay unit into the dash opening. It fits like OEM — same mounting points, same screw holes. Don't force it; if it's not seating flush, check that no wires are trapped behind the unit. Secure with the original screws.

Step 8: Reconnect Battery & First Boot
